The gospel is a box that looks just like Jesus. The gospel is a well defined and specific proclamation of the will, nature, intentions, and plans of God toward us. It is a declaration of how He is going to deal with us and what we can believe and what we can expect of Him. Without this box we fall back into the unsure-vague types and shadows of the OT. Without the gospel we do not know what to think. I think many Christians have rejected the Jesus image of God that we are supposed to be listening to and are instead listening to a vague and unclear message... or in many cases the theological model presented by the Romans and Greeks (the omni-factors). God wants us to have a well defined and sure image of who He is and what He is like. He wants the veil to be pulled aside and for us to see Him exactly as He is.
